DISCOVER THE MONFERRATO UNESCO
Il Monferrato is one of the most beautiful Italian places, famous for its biodiversity and the rolling hills that frame the panorama. Its viticultural landscapes were recognized by Unesco in 2014 as cultural elements of exceptional beauty, strong in the historical tradition of the cultivation of the vine and the “culture of wine”. The area of Piedmont where Margara is located is part of the so-called “Monferrato degli infernot”, a portion of the territory characterized by the presence of historical vernacular structures excavated in the “Pietra da Cantone” formerly used for the conservation of wines.
An area rich in history, culture and food and wine traditions famous all over the world: your holiday in Margara could not be in a better place.

Il Botolo Winery
On the hills of Nizza Monferrato, in the heart of the production of quality wines that have given fame to Piedmont and Italy, is the Cantina Il Botolo. Nizza Monferrato is identified as the “capital” of Barbera: this is the leading vine of these hilly expanses, a variety cultivated for over 500 years in the Piedmont area.
The winery dominates a hill in the center of an amphitheater of vineyards surrounded to the north and east by woods of acacia, oak and wild cherry trees, giving life to a unique panorama between the historic towns of Quargnento and Fubine Monferrato.
The Panoramic Tower with the ascent to the top seasoned with stories and curiosities, offers a 360 ° view of the hilly and alpine arc while the Distillery and the Barricaia welcome visitors to convey emotions and awareness about the production process that leads to creation of spirits of excellence.
Discover the Piedmont food flavors
The cuisine of Monferrato is rich in dishes and ingredients strongly linked to the territory and which cannot be found anywhere else. Here the simplicity and quality of the raw material are valued first of all.
Among the most typical dishes we find the vitello tonnato, the “bagnet”, the raw meat of fassona and the agnolotti with roast sauce and obviously the king of the Piedmontese table: the white truffle!
For a complete experience we recommend the history of Trattoria “I Bologna” in Rocchetta Tanaro, famous for its fresh hand-made pasta, such as the “Plin” ravioli, which will welcome you in a place with a timeless charm.
